Communion: We celebrate communion (also known as The Lord's Supper) monthly, usually on
the first Sunday of the month.
Sunday School: This Spring we are continuing our study of the Old Testament using the Great
Courses DVD lecture series featuring Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, professor of New
Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Feel free to
drop in (each lesson can stand alone) and join us for a time of fellowship, study,
good conversation, and good coffee.
Women's small groups: (called Presbyterian Women Circles) usually meet on the second Monday
and Tuesday of the month. Call the church office at 540-366-7959 or e-mail
email@example.com for more information.
Presbyterian Community Center (PCC): Loaves of bread are collected on the first
Sunday of the month for the PCC's food bank. Food and financial donations are collected biannually to support the PCC's Hunger Buster Bag program.
Two Cents-a-Meal donations are collected on the second Sunday of the month.
These donations help fight hunger locally, nationally, and internationally. This
program was started in 1979 by Rosellyn Calvert who wanted to help those
suffering from hunger and poverty around the world. When she asked God what
she could do to help, she was led to give two cents at each meal. We join many
Christians throughout the nation in supporting the Two Cents-a-Meal program.
Click here for more information. To donate, please make checks payable to "Green
Ridge Presbyterian Church" and write "Two Cents a Meal" in the memo line. You
can also donate cash in an envelope labeled "Two Cents a Meal."
Elijah's Backpack is a program that provides children in need with healthy meals and snacks throughout the weekend. This is a free, community ministry sponsored by St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Green Ridge Presbyterian partners with St. Philip Lutheran in supporting this ministry. Volunteers from Green Ridge help pack bags of food at St. Philip Lutheran once a month.
